SBDP Code of Professional Ethics
"The Society provides advocacy, education and recognition, all very important to our profession, and long overdue."
Amanda Finch, BDP, AllianceValue
The cornerstone of the Society's commitment to ethical business practices and corporate service is its Code of Professional Ethics. Every member pledges to abide by the code's standards and procedures as a condition of admission and continuing membership in SBDP.
The SBDP Code of Professional Ethics speaks to both SBDP members, their employers, and their clients. It ensures that members will make no statements or promises that could mislead a potential employer, client, or other SBDP member.
The SBDP Code of Professional Ethics is enforced by the Board of Trustees Member Committee. The Board of Trustees will do everything possible to resolve any complaints to the satisfaction of everyone involved, and has the power to decide on remedies. All members and member companies have agreed to honor the administrator's decisions.
The Board of Trustees is SBDP's governing body. Headed by an elected Chairman, the board is comprised of five Elected Trustees from the Certified members of the Society. The Board of Trustees may also include a reasonable number of non-voting Directors as determined by the Board of Trustees. The board develops and maintains the organization's long-term vision and strategy, sets broad policy and assures that the organization can implement strategic moves.
All Business Development Professionals must meet the rigorous and selective criteria for admission to the SBDP as a Certified Member. Thereafter, they must exemplify the highest moral and ethical standards and must agree to abide by the bylaws of the SBDP and the Code of Professional Ethics.
