Core Membership Criteria

We Represent the Best in Enterprise Sales and Business Development.

The Society's "Core" membership is comprised exclusively of Complex Sales BDPs. Our charter mandates that we serve primarily those who have the same issues, concerns and experiences of selling to and partnering with large, complex organizations, therefore we are selective in who is granted membership.

Note: To view other Membership Types visit our Membership Packages Page.

To meet our definition of a BDP, prospective members should be able to answer "yes" to ALL of the following:

  1. I currently work (or within the last 3 years have worked) in a business development role with large companies as my primary customers.
  2. Most of my clients and partners are at larger organizations (~500+ employees)
  3. A significant percentage of my business development pursuits have extended sales cycles.
  4. Most of my business development pursuits are considered "complex" and most of involve at least 4 or more client executives in the buying role.
  5. I have read the BDP Code of Professional Ethics and have been truthful in regard to the above statements.

For questions, comments or more information on membership, please see our FAQ or  Email Member Services.

We invite all BDPs who meet our criteria to join, regardless of age, race, sex, creed, religion, color, or national origin. SBDP Board of Trustees maintain the right to approve or deny admission for any member that does not meet the stated minumum criteria or has sustainable reason for denial according to the by-laws of the SBDP.
